At the beginning of the year, we conducted a survey among our customers who actively use the VisionLink application. We wanted to better understand how fleet management is utilized in the daily operations of the Finnish earthmoving industry – and what kind of information users find most valuable in their everyday work.
The responses showed that VisionLink has already become an active part of worksite management and fleet monitoring for many users. More than half of the respondents use the application at least weekly, and over 80% use it at least monthly. In addition, slightly more than half primarily monitor information via mobile devices, reflecting the mobile nature of worksite operations and the need to access information directly in the field.
VisionLink is most commonly used to monitor excavators and wheel loaders. The most frequently used features are clearly related to machine condition, utilization, and cost management. The most important types of information identified were:
- fault code monitoring
- monitoring of scheduled maintenance and operating hours
- machine utilization data
- condition events and general machine information.
Open-ended responses particularly highlighted fault codes, fuel consumption monitoring, operating hours, location data, and predictive maintenance. Many respondents considered it important that information is quickly available and helps them react to potential issues before they interrupt operations.
The survey also revealed a strong interest in learning more about interpreting fault codes and making more effective use of machine data. This reinforces the idea that the value of fleet management is not created by data alone, but by how that information can be used to support day-to-day decision-making and improve worksite efficiency.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey – your feedback helps us further develop both our services and the support we provide to better meet our customers’ needs.
